On April 18, 2026, Darfur Peace and Development Organization, carried out a humanitarian and educational initiative at Karary Locality Center. The initiative provided 120 appreciation gifts to students sitting for the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate examinations in North Darfur.
Female staff at the center were also honored in recognition of their valuable contribution to the educational environment.
The activity aimed to encourage and motivate students during a critical academic period under challenging conditions. The event was widely appreciated and highlighted the importance of supporting education in conflict-affected areas. “I did not know if I would make it, but I knew I had to try.”
Hala, a young student from Tawila in Darfur, comes from a region deeply affected by ongoing conflict. With limited access to education and increasing insecurity, continuing her studies seemed almost impossible. Yet, determined to sit for her Sudanese Secondary School Certificate examinations, she made a courageous decision—to leave everything behind and begin a dangerous journey toward a safer location. For 18 days, Hala traveled across unstable areas, facing uncertainty, fear, and severe scarcity of resources. Her destination was Khartoum North, where examination centers had been established as relatively safer spaces for displaced students.

“When I finally arrived, I was exhausted. I had no food, no place to stay, but I was relieved that I made it.” Through the support of the Darfur Peace and Development Organization (DPDO), Hala received direct meal assistance at the examination center, enabling her to focus on her exams without worrying about her most basic needs. In recognition of her extraordinary determination and resilience, Subsaharan University College awarded her a scholarship to pursue her higher education. “Receiving the scholarship changed everything for me. It gave me hope again—that my future is not lost.” Hala’s story is not an isolated case—it reflects the reality of hundreds of students from Darfur who continue to overcome immense challenges simply to access education.

DPDO Supports Sudanese Secondary School Students on the Final Day of National Examinations
Khartoum, Sudan – The Darfur Peace and Development Organization (DPDO) successfully concluded its support initiative for students sitting the Sudanese Secondary School Certificate Examinations at Bahri Al-Qadeema Girls Secondary School, reaffirming its commitment to protecting education and promoting student well-being during times of crisis.
On the final day of the examination period, DPDO provided nutritious meals to students completing their last examination, helping them finish this important milestone with dignity, encouragement, and renewed hope. The initiative was implemented in collaboration with local partners as part of DPDO's broader efforts to ensure that conflict-affected students receive both educational and psychosocial support throughout their academic journey.

On February 6, 2024, the DPDO (Darfur Peace and Development Organization) extended its support to the Abu-Shouk hospital, which was the only operational hospital in the region. The support included the provision of injections, high blood pressure measurements, fever tests, medical stethoscopes, and lap coats for the medical staff. In addition to this, the organization also provided individual patient cases with the required medical assistance.
On January 15, 2024, the DPDO continued its support for the healthcare sector in Sudan by providing medical supplies to the Ministry of Health in North Darfur. The supplies included oxygen cylinders and masks, which were intended to support the South Side hospital in EL Flasher. The DPDO’s efforts towards providing the necessary medical equipment and supplies to the healthcare facilities in the region have been commendable and have helped in improving the overall healthcare infrastructure in the area.
